Q. I don’t understand how these Games work.
http://fandomgames.co.vu/about
Q: Can I enter more than one fandom? Or am I only allowed to reblog one post?
A: Yes, you can enter as many fandoms/districts as you’d like! Each fandom/district will have a separate post that you will have to reblog to enter, so you may join whichever fandoms your heart desires!
Q: Why didn’t you include __________ fandom in the Games?
A: We’re sorry. This is our first year; we tried to choose as many fandoms that we though could be judged by our pool of judges accurately. Next year a completely different group of fandoms might be chosen, depending on this year’s turnout.
Q: How does the reaping system work? Are one male and female tribute actually taken, and/or are the tributes chosen based on previous knowledge?
A: No, the reaping is completely random. Two bloggers will be chosen from the list of reblogs; we will not know who has been reaped until the last minute.
Q: How does the volunteer system work? If I get chosen, is someone allowed to volunteer and take my place even if I want to compete?
A: People are only allowed to volunteer if the original competitor states themselves that he/she wants to back out of the competition. So, say you get chosen for a fandom that you entered but actually know little about. You can allow others who placed their names in the reaping and wish to volunteer by letting us know that you’re looking for volunteers. No one can take your place if you have already been reaped and wish to be in the competition.
Q: Can we team up against other tributes?
A: for sure! If you are a career, for example, (superwholock + marvel) you can all work on making a joint video, piece of art, etc. This is called being allies.
Q: Can I use something I made before the games?
A: No. You must make it during the games.
Q: What types of media can I use?
A: You are not restricted to anything. You can make art, writing, poetry, graphics, videos, music videos, animations, etc. It’s open to you. However, multiple pieces in one round is not recommended. Stick to one type of media at a time if you can.
Q: What happens if you’re not available for one of the rounds? How long is each round?
A: If you’re away for whatever reason, you can always team up with another tribute and ask them to save your life by listing you as a joint tribute for their artwork, etc. Each round will be around 2 weeks long.
Q: How do people get eliminated?
A: Once the round is over, we will have 3 days of voting for the public. We will make a poll and allow everyone to vote in it. However, some tributes may have more followers, etc, and it may not get fair. So we will also have a poll for the judges. We will choose the lowest 4 from voting and lowest 4 from the judges, and then decide who will get eliminated. In the last 2 rounds, only 2 people will be eliminated, then one.
Q: Will this be a yearly event or more common, like bimonthly?
A: Yearly. As you can see, each round is around 2 weeks long, plus approx. a week of voting. That is 3 weeks per round for 6 rounds. The entire games will take around 20-22 weeks with preparation, etc.
Q: Is it okay to use your prompts for our own stuff? Like if we’re not tributes, can we use your prompts for our own art, etc.?
A: Yes! Feel free to tag it under “fandomgamesfun”, our unofficial tag for people who just want to participate in the games!
Q: Will there be sponsors?
A: Yes. A sponsor can be someone who asks other people to vote for you, who sends you tips for improving your artwork, etc. A tribute can have up to 5 sponsors.
Q: How many times can we reblog the reaping posts?
A: Once.
Q. What happened to the original District 11 (The Walking Dead)? Why did it get replaced? Wasn’t that unfair to the tributes/entrants?
When the first tributes were reaped, both TWD tributes opted out of the competition. When we requested volunteers/sponsors, we found that there were not enough active participants to give TWD a fighting chance. We hosted a poll, and Merlin won out of the multiple choices. We did not find in unfair, considering the small amount of offers to help the TWD fandom. It was a hard choice, but we decided it was the best for the Games. We’re sorry if we offended anyone.
Q: What if I can’t make any graphics??
A: You have other sources of media you can use, don’t forget that. Otherwise, try your best. It’s a game of survival, so keep trying. Or, you know, make some allies…
Q. What are the official tags for the Games/where do you submit your pieces for judging?
“fandomgamestributes” is the tag where tributes will tag their work. All other side-along participants can tag their work “fandomgamesfun”. New tags might be underway for tribute talk from the interviewers and such.
Q. Is there a prize for the winning tribute?
The judges are debating on the prizes even now as we speak. No worries, we will figure something out before the end of the competition ;)
Q. Who is judging [particular district]?
All of the judges are working together collectively to judge the districts. If anything, we have “expert” judges who help make tough calls about pieces that the other judges know less about than them. But overall, the judges work together when deciding which pieces are the best. It doesn’t take much to know good art vs. bad art.
Q. Have the tributes been reaped yet?
Yes
Q. Can I still be a sponsor?
Contact your favorite tribute and ask them! In the end, it is their decision to choose their own sponsors. We just have a page of references so that they don’t have to go searching for them.
Q. How much can a sponsor do?
The sponsor must allow the tribute to make the piece for themselves. They can give tips to better the finished product, but the original work must be the tribute’s alone. They can give ideas, edit writing, give references and inspirations, and encourage others to vote for their tribute, but the work can only be the tribute’s.
Q. What is the topic for the 1st Round?
Your OTP in a Fight. Make of that what you will.
Q. When does the 1st Round end?
January 20th.
Q. I wasn’t reaped. Can I still follow the prompt and post my work?
Yes! Tag your work “fandomgamesfun”, we’ll take a look and reblog it if we like it!
Q. What’s going to happen next year?
We have absolutely no idea! Next year is far, far away. Just let us finish this year’s competition first!
